Started from the bottle,
now we’re here
We started Wallaby when we learnt that 1 million PET plastic bottles are used every minute and just 9% (yep, 9%) of the world’s plastic has been recycled, ever! Imagine, in the blink of an eye, 5,500 bottles are used, discarded, and left to wreak havoc on our precious planet.
These persistent plastics enter our oceans, streams and landfill wrecking havoc on our natural environment and inhabitants (not just you and me), the magnificent wildlife of Australia. Ingested plastics have been found in nearly every species of sea-life, causing the death of millions of birds, mammals and fishes.
In June 2019 we launched a simple 375ml can of still spring water into the market, and in a few short years we’ve replaced over 5.8 million plastic bottles. This is just the beginning as we tackle plastic head on.
Get around us,
we’re going circular.
Long story short, plastic bottles aren’t getting recycled – we think plastic has to go, and infinitely recyclable aluminium is our answer. Globally, aluminium has the highest recycling rates of any packaging material, and in Australia the average recycled content of aluminium cans is over 60%.
Because aluminium doesn’t degrade in the recycling process, every can has a chance to become a new can, or a bicycle, a window frame or even a stadium. Aluminium’s infinitely recyclable properties make it the perfect choice for a circular packaging economy, so join us on our journey to #gocircular.
